Bread and butter
The Newbeats where an American Pop trio active in the sixties and seventies. Brothers Dean Mathis (March 17, 1939, Georgia) and Mark Mathis (February 9, 1942, Georgia) teamed up with Larry Henley (June 30, 1941 Texas).
Larry’s distinctive falsetto lent an individual sound to the vocals of the group. Their sound was distinctly vocal pop music and was later re-discovered and featured in British Northern Soul sounds
The group had a number of vocal pop hits from 1964 to 1969, scoring success in both the USA and UK.
